Some may call me crazy or say I was committing social suicide in the middle of my high school career but I saw moving almost 1,300 miles across the country from Minnesota to Durango as an opportunity to be educated in a way I enjoyed and finally understood. Animas High School was the obvious option for many reasons but I feel like the most prominent reasoning in my mind was the style of teaching at Animas. The student-teacher relationships aren't like any I have ever seen before and I believe theres something beautiful about them that should be noted. The atmosphere and overall vibe of the school is beautiful and is a presence I forever want to be in. At my old high school, I struggled a lot with understanding content the way it was being presented. I had such a tough time because I knew I was a smart kid, but for some odd reason, I wasn't understanding the information that most of my peers did. Accepting that I just needed to be taught differently was the start to my journey of finding Animas High School. So we packed our two cars with our clothes and pets, along with the rest of our belongings in a moving truck, and moved to Durango Colorado. Theres really no way to explain the differences of this school and others unless you have experienced it first hand.
